With this second bimonthly announcement of May, I'd like to remind everyone that the new story contest is underway. Like the last two it will last for two months, meaning the deadline is the last day of June at midnight. So make sure you submit your stories before then, though that is plenty of time to do so. Don't forget to comment on your favorite stories as well!
Also, I thought I'd give everyone a heads up that I will be busy tomorrow and the day after for my niece's and my son's 3rd birthday party. I won't be able to do my hourly checks on the forum, though I will try to check in a couple of times throughout the day if I can. The quickest way to get my attention will be through private messages and reports. If you see any spam, report it and I will see a notification immediately when I get on to check and it'll be the first thing I take care of. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and I hope everything runs smoothly until I'm back to my full time moderating schedule. I appreciate your patience during this time.
With that out of the way, here's what's new on the forum!
We have a new area for short story submissions called Short Scary Stories. This is separate from the story forum and contest areas as it does have some requirements. Any story in this forum area needs to be under 350 words, so it provides a bit of a challenge to try to render the reader terrified in as few words as possible. There have been a few submissions already, but I recommend checking out squanderingsights' story Always yours. It's short but disturbing. TRIGGER WARNING ABUSE AND GORE ( viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2076 )
In Creepy, KaceyVictoria recounts the most terrifying vivid dream they've ever had. ( viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2118 )
Glitch in the Matrix offers a thread by Yorkshire Joker who had an odd experience that happened to coincide with a death. If anyone else has experienced this, I would love to read more about it here. ( viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2098 )
A poltergeist terrorized Cosmicsaucepan as a child and the details have been posted in Paranormal.
"Everything's eventual" is a new story that was posted in the Story forum by new user latinalover20. ( viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2037 )
Lastly, if you were a fan of the Borrasca story posted on the sixpenceee blog but usually have trouble finding the link or post to reread the story again or haven't read it yet, then JustAnotherStranger's thread with the link will help make things easier. If it gets shoved down into older pages you can always search "Borrasca" in the search, which you'll find a link for at the top of the page just under the banner. For now, here's the link from the thread in Stories & Encounters Found Elsewhere. Feel free to add any other old favorites or new stories that aren't your own that you find here(just remember to credit the author!). ( viewforum.php?f=17 )
This concludes the bimonthly announcements for May. I'll have more for you in two weeks. If you wanted a chance to be featured in the community announcements all you need to do is post new content. I look at everything on the forum, even if I'm not replying to them, so even if you don't get featured rest assured I've seen it and appreciate all content. I can only include so many and our users here provide a lot of great stuff to read!
Also, for those of you just ending your school year or about to take your finals, good luck!
