Maybe some of us are more sensitive to paranormal things or maybe I'm just crazy. But I've experienced some strange things in my life that I thought I would share. All of these are things I personally experienced although I have considered dramatizing them and sharing them as stories so I'd love feedback. (All people's names have been changed
1) The first one that stands out to me is El Gezira.
My sister and I worked at a riding stable for several years called El Gezira, I even lived there the summer before junior year of high school. It was huge, like 600 acres. I know was an old pig farm and I'm not sure of anything else about its past, but lots of strange things happened there.
One evening during camp we were all playing hide and go seek, as a counselor I was out looking for kids. Going for a strategic approach I climbed up the highest hill there to see if I could see anyone. There were no kids in sight, but I paused to look west and watch the sunset. Somehow I got lost in thought; it was strangely quiet considering we were supposed to be playing hide and seek, but I came back to myself at some point with the distinct feeling that I was being watched. I turned and looked behind me but didn't see anything. I looked back for one last look at the dying sun and saw a light floating some ways away over one of the pastures bobbing up and down with nothing else near it. Watching it I began to get entranced again but I caught myself, suddenly felt enormously frightened and ran.
The next time something strange happened it was to my sister and not me. She was out one night waiting on my dad to come pick her up but he was running late because of traffic. She called my dad and I both in a panic crying because she kept hearing cars come down the dirt road, could even see the headlights and then they would vanish. She never liked to be out there alone after that.
The really strange things happened when I lived there though. I went to bed pretty early most nights, but on the rare occasion, I didn't I let my dog out for one last walk right before bed. I usually just opened the door to my apartment and waited for him to come back. Well one day I opened the door and he refused to go out. I wasn't worried yet though. I checked the time, realized it was almost time for night checks (I had to check on a few sick and injured horses who stayed in all night every 3-4 hours) and decided I would just go with him. So I began my short walk to the barns, but Scooter would not come with me. I was getting frustrated by now and called him a bit more forcefully than normal. He came outside but had his hackles raised, and stayed right behind me visibly shaking. I was about halfway t the barns still muttering to myself about my dumb dog when I heard voices in the first barn. Now it's about midnight the barn has been closed for about six hours and I can see from the flood light that there's no cars here. My first thought is that someone is trying to steal horses so I get out of sight, creep as close as I can without being seen and listen. Scooter is laying next to me but he doesn't even growl at this point. I hear two men talking but no matter how close I get, I can't make out what they're saying it's like what they're saying is being distorted somehow. Then they begin yelling like they got into an argument. The horses are getting restless, snorting and pawing. There's a crash of something and then it all goes quiet. I'm shaking at this point horrified to find out what could be in the barn but I get up my nerve to walk in, armed with a shovel that was leaning against the barn, and find nothing amiss other than three very scared horses. I start locking my door at night.
I too heard the car that never came, and I occasionally heard the voices in the barn again but I tried not to dwell on it. I mostly ignored it until the night of the gunshot. It was another week of camp and my friends and I were out in one of the barns talking late at night. We heard the voices in the other barn. I got a chill; even living out there, I never really got used to it. My friends had no idea what was in there wasn't human and thought that some of the campers had gotten up and that we should tell them to go back to bed. Just when we walked out side the voices started yelling. They always started yelling. Then instead of the customary somewhat loud noise of things falling a gunshot rang out. Almost immediately after I heard galloping hoof beats as several horses ran through their electric fences. We were temporarily distracted trying to catch half a dozen loose horses two of whom we couldn't even find for almost an hour. But then once they were put away we were all left questioning what we had heard. There hadn't been anything or anyone in the barn and they all thought maybe we were imagining it from some far less ominous sound, but I know what I heard
I go to a fairly old school and there's this one really old live oak tree on campus that stretches out over one of the roads. Since it grows more sideways than up its a popular tree to climb. One night Freshman year me and two of my friends were out climbing it. Well only two of us ended up climbing it, my friend Lisa never did because right after Gina and I got up there she got stung by something and I ended up sliding off on some moss scraping up my legs and back. Giving up on that venture we went and sat out on the golf course talking. We didn't seem to be the only ones out there a few people walked a little ways off laughing and talking. It was still pretty hot out and we kept getting bitten by mosquitoes. So we got up and started walking back to our dorm just a bit behind the group of people. They were back lit and just looked like shadows but even still I find it strange they could have missed the cat. About halfway up the hill to the golf course entrance is an enormous long haired cat meowing and rubbing on mine and Gina's legs. I tried to pick up the cat since he was so friendly and I was sure he must have belonged to someone but I literally couldn't he was impossibly heavy. It sort of freaked me out, he was a big cat sure but he shouldn't have weighed more than 20 lbs. I said we should go and as we all started walking again we realized that the people we had been following had vanished. There was nowhere they could have gone that we couldn't have seen them, its an open golf course but they were gone nonetheless. Even more strange as soon as we left the cat he started howling like he was in immense pain, just horrible awful cries. We ran. When we finally got off the golf course we stopped under a streetlight to catch our breath. My bug bites were gone I reached around to feel the scrapes on my back and they were healed too. Gina's hand was no longer swollen either. Only Lisa who hadn't touched the cat still had bug bites.
I probably shouldn't have gone back to the golf course but I used to like to run at night and no one disturbed you. I often felt watched out there but I figured in all likelihood it was just me being paranoid since it's drilled into girls from such a young age not to be out by yourself late at night, and in any case it made me run faster. But there was one night that I couldn't shake the feeling there was a full moon to the right of me illuminating me enough in the open space that I had a shadow to my left, that made sense what didn't make sense was the shadow to my right that was constant despite changing light sources. I was freaked out at the time but not enough to change my running route the next night. That night same shadow same feeling, but I was so caught up watching my shadow that I tripped and in trying to stay on my feet, subluxed my kneecap. I stopped to try to put it back and heard something growl in my ear to go away and never come back. I have never run so fast in my entire life.
This post has gotten pretty long so I think I'll stop it here.
Talk about anything paranormal related here.
I don't think your crazy. I haven't really had an ghost experiences, but I've been creeped out plenty of times. If these were dramatized I'd totally read them, since they happened to you they'll have elements of truth too. I used to walk in the woods by myself and would get pretty creepy vibes, just like you with the golf course but less literal. I kept coming back though because it was super relaxing so I don't think you're weird for going back.
