That really is an interesting take on zombies! It's so unique how the disease breaks down their free will more than anything and they only attack if someone is "out of line". It's a refreshing change from zombies only having the desire to feed. Very nice and well done!

Holy hell, that was incredible. I had to stop in the middle to tend to my laundry and I could think of nothing else until I got back to it. Amazing!

Merciful Zeus; I love this. I've just read it, and I'm amazed. I crave more; is there any chance on getting to see this apocalypse from someone else's viewpoint; or see how exactly it started? I'm curious about the little things as well, what if on Last Day someone was giving birth, will the Pather go insane, if they can go insane that is, as it cannot have another child? What would happen if someone went swimming on Last Day, and then they got froze in the water, what would they do?

This story is unlike any sort of apocalyptic even I've ever read about. I was really hoping they'd be able to escape, I just wanted it so bad for them...but it was a great ending and probably one of the more realistic ones possible for such a story. Really wonderful, keep writing!

This was amazing. Great detail, new concept... Ah! It would be such an amazing novel or movie!! I wish there was more.

Her giggle at returning to the chalk line shows her relief of not being caught, but now she is living completely alone in a hopeless world that is quickly running out of food and necessities. I might find it more comforting to be dead than completely alone...

Depending on how The Last Day works, it's possible she will still have to walk to school everyday, right next to her friend. Mallory will no longer talk to Lyyli, and Lyyli will have to stay silent, and watch her best friend slowly rot away, right next to her.

I am guessing that after Mallory becomes a Pather, she will continue her original routine of walking to school, instead of her actual last day of waiting to jump into a Jeep. I rationalize this guess because all the other Pathers do normal day things, they don't run around frantically like they are about to be attacked, which many of the people must have done right before they were turned. So I think it goes back to the previous normal routine before the attack. Which would be Mallory and Lyyli walking to school together, sitting at the same lunch table, and walking home together...

Would that be how it would work...? Jeez, I want this to be a series. It's so good.

Hello! I'm Riah, and I'm a sophomore in high school. I really love this story, its one of my favorites. I was wondering if me and my friend could make it a short film for our local film festival? We would credit you of course; I just feel like its such a great story to adapt!
And anyone else who sees this - if you have a contact with this writer, please let me know!
Thank you so much! It's fine if you don't want us to.
